People photography is hard!

My feature photos were very hard to find.

   Feature photography is difficult, especially if you do not know what to shoot. My teacher Lori King basically gave us our assignment and explained how to do, it but she did not tell us where to shoot or how to shoot it.

   People photography was hard because while doing this specific project, there were many great shots I could have taken, but people said because I did not belong to a major paper they were not interested.
   The most challenging thing I discovered throughout this assignment is metering. Metering was difficult because when trying to get an action shot of the boys playing or the team playing softball a lot of my pictures were very blurry and over exposed or under exposed.

Camera Controls

   Camera controls and lights are very important when taking a picture, whether your shooting news or weddings.

   One lesson I learned is to never use auto-exposure because it can be fooled in certain situations. Before learning how to meter, I always used auto features.  Here at Owens, I am the kid with the high-end dollar camera, but I always used auto in everything I did.

   Now that I have learned how to meter, I will never use auto again. Mark my words!

My First Amendment Rights

The first amendment means a lot to me because it allows me to exercise my right as a future journalist. Without these rights the government would have complete authority over what I write and say.

 Without these freedoms of expression and of the press, I could not go in front of the capital building and tell everyone how I feel like the late MLK did. I would not be able to cover the crime scene of a serial killer, or even write down grandma’s old recipe.

I am so glad we have these 45 words to allow us to be free in the United States of America.

I am studying advertising at Owens Community College. This blog will be all about photojournalism and what I will learn in my intro to Photojournalism class this semester.
